Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who should go to the County Convention?
A: DELEGATES must be present at the convention to cast their votes for delegates to the State Convention. ALTERNATES must be present at the convention in case some delegates fail to show up or need to leave early.

Q: Can I still go to the County Convention if I’m not a delegate or alternate?
A: YES – you are welcome to attend the convention as an observer or a volunteer for the Hillary Clinton campaign. We want as large and enthusiastic of a presence as possible at these conventions.

Q: When and where is my County Convention going to be held?
A:
Most County Conventions will be held on Saturday, March 29th. Please visit www.hillaryclinton.com/tx or email ---> Texas Delegates to learn the details for your convention. You may also ask the local Hillary Clinton staff member at your training for more information.

Q: What if I am a delegate and I can’t make it to the County Convention?
A: To send an alternate to the convention in your place, you must give your alternate a brief signed and dated letter declaring that you are giving them your seat on the convention floor. If you do not know the name of the person or persons who signed up to be an alternate at your precinct convention, email ---> Texas Delegates or reach out to your local staff member so we can find a replacement for you.

Q: What do I have to do to be elected as a delegate to the State Convention?
A: Before deciding to run as a delegate, make sure that you will be able to attend the State Convention in Austin on June 6-7th. We will be holding pre-convention meetings for each precinct, where we will decide ahead of time which delegates to nominate and vote for at the County Convention. If you want to be a delegate, make sure to attend the meeting in your precinct. Email ---> Texas Delegates or contact your local organizer to find out the details of the meeting.

Q: I don’t know what to do at the convention! How can I learn more?
A: The Hillary Clinton campaign will be conducting trainings and pre-convention meetings to keep our delegates and alternates informed. Please email ---> Texas Delegates or ask your local staff member for the details of the next conference call or training in your area. You can also visit the Texas Democratic Party web site at www.txdemocrats.org to read more about the process.

Q: Does it cost anything to go to the convention?
A: There are no fees to participate in the Democrat Party conventions, whether on the precinct, state or national level. You may be asked for a donation to help cover the costs of holding the convention, but it is not required.

Q: I want to help Hillary be successful at my convention! What can I do?
A: You can help the campaign by making phone calls to delegates and alternates to encourage them to come to the convention on March 29th. We are also looking for Hillary Convention Captains, from Texas, to take a leadership role in their precincts before and during the convention. Please contact your local staff member or email ---> Texas Delegates if you would like to sign up to volunteer.
